Plaster and render are mortar and Gypsum coatings that cover a wall or ceiling.

The main purpose of Plaster is to make the inside walls smooth, that they have a better appearance and are easier to decorate  ( paint or wallpaper).

Render consists of cement, sand, water and sometimes lime is added.

Special Rendering sand is best for this purpose.

Render is applied in two coats, a Scratch coat and a Top coat, normally to a smooth finish, but can have aggregate added to make a pebbledash finish or Tyrolene can be applied after.
